Table Lamp
The ”Foam” Table lamp is the second object from the collection ”From Foam To Dust”. The collection reflects the themes of creation, time and mortality.
The table lamp represents the candles, evoking a sense of light in the darkness, symbolising the remembrance of those who have passed. Light has long been a symbol of guidance and honour for the deceased, and the warmth it represents can offer comfort to those who are grieving.
The lamp body is hand formed from a blank of aluminium foam; it is then machined to accommodate a lamp holder and a steel base.We then use a large double layered mirrored light bulb to create the soft candlelight with a hint of the details from a traditional grave candle. The mirrored finish of the bulb also symbolic in folklore and mythology of being a portal or bridge to the spiritual world.
